Faso Danse Théâtre, established by Serge Aimé Coulibaly in 2002, is a space for meeting, reflection and research on the choreographic creation of contemporary dance within the African context. The company sees contemporary choreography as an art form, which must actively participate in the cultural, political, economic and social development of people in African countries and throughout the world. To Faso Danse Theatre, art is a force, a means, a weapon that can help the African youth to replace disillusion with confidence, allowing them to take destiny into their own hands.
The company consists of several young creators who have already developed their own choreographic language. The company’s contemporary choreography is solidly anchored in African culture. In essence taking her energy from African dance to further develop and integrate it and give it a better place in the world.
With her different creations, the company has developed an original contemporary dance language, based on strong themes and with dance as the primary emotion.
